Start a Movement Community Today!
Community - Shared life is a core value of The Movement. We encourage groups to meet in various places doing different things to be creative with how they experience life “in Christ” together.
Our goal for the fellowship groups is to have a real, intimate time together where people know exactly what we are about and come with an expectant heart. This is a time to be open with each other about our spirituality and individual lives, study the Bible, pray, and worship together.
We also see the importance of having activities and events for outreach and community development apart from the fellowship times, such as movie nights, concerts, and parties. Social help projects are also a great way to bring people together for a common cause and participate in one of the main values of The Movement.
Fellowship groups and other Movement activities are successful because we are seeking to fulfill basic desires that everyone has – doing things that we enjoy together and becoming closer to our Creator. The “Meet-ups” are diverse as each group is “shaped” to meet the unique needs of those who attend them. We are helping others to see that they can encounter God and worship Him with the things they are passionate about. The group’s success depends on everyone contributing. Because of this individuals feel they have ownership in the group and are committed to it. Therefore, it is very important that everyone in the group contributes with facilitating the group and holding events and activities in the community.
In order for people to be evangelized through The Movement it is vital for Christians to build personal relationships with the public and be involved in other Movement activities such as expression events and social help projects. Through these they can invite others to be a part of The Movement and its culture without asking them to be involved in a spiritual activity right off the bat which could be intimidating. As people become more involved in The Movement and develop deeper relationships with Christians, natural opportunities will come to talk with them about faith and invite them to experience the fellowship group. The goal is to build relationships with people and help show them what being a Christ follower is all about through the Movement¹s culture, and then give them the opportunity to further their quest for faith when the right time comes.
